Since 1992, I have been working with adolescents, adults, and couples from diverse backgrounds to address and treat whatever might be causing an imbalance in their lives. Problem areas may include anxiety, depression, stress, loss, conflict, trauma, loneliness, low self-esteem, or physical illness.

Whatever the issue may be, my therapeutic approach focuses on treating the whole person.

Interventions may target the individual's environment, thoughts, behaviors, physical health, or mood, or any combination of these.

My focus as a psychotherapist is to provide a safe, structured, and supportive environment in which we can work together to discover the underlying issues which affect your quality of life. I will assist you in gaining insights about yourself and your relationships in order to develop a strategy to bring about positive change.

Credentials
I received a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Washington in 1992. My B.A. is from the University of California, Los Angeles (1983).

I completed the Certificate Program in Clinical Therapy and Practice in May of 2002, and am licensed as a Clinical Social Worker, Washington State License No. LW00005412.

Prior to starting a private practice in 1996, my experience included working at community mental health centers, the Evergreen Hospital emergency room, and Fairfax Psychiatric Hospital.

Specific strategies I may use to address a given problem will vary, but are likely to include elements of Psychodynamic Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. Work can either be short-term or long-term, depending upon the nature of the problem.

In order to grow professionally, I regularly attend continuing education trainings, participate in supervision and peer consultation, read, and work on my personal growth. I participated in the Children's Hospital Dialectical Behavior Therapy Community Consultation Team from 2003-2007. I am currently a member of the Washington State Society for Clinical Social Work.
